Why you'll love it
Ubiquinol is a fat-soluble molecule that’s stored in the liver and fatty tissue and provides the necessary amount of energy that your heart needs to function properly. Research shows that CoQ10 helps to maintain normal cholesterol levels and heart muscle strength and support the health of blood vessel walls. The heart is one of the most metabolically active organs in our body and thus a deficiency in CoQ10 usually affects the heart first. It is important to note that pharmaceutical treatment with statins (cholesterol lowering medications) can inhibit CoQ10 activity and lead to a serious deficiency. Supplementing with a daily dose of CanPrev’s Ubiquinol 100 can help restore what’s lost.
Ubiquinol is a powerful antioxidant that can help protect your heart and other organs from free radical damage. Supplementing with ubiquinol can contribute to a renewed sense of energy, as ubiquinol plays a role in the production of Adenosene Triphosphate (ATP), a transporter responsible for generating 90 to 95 percent of your body’s energy.
Using Ubiquinol preventatively may also play a role in migraine prevention. A study at University Hospital in Zurich, Switzerland showed that patients taking 300 mg of CoQ10 daily had fewer and shorter headaches and less headache-related nausea. Other studies have shown similar results.* It is recommended that you take CoQ10 for a minimum of three months in order to see beneficial effects with migraines.
Why this formula?
Supplements are usually available in two forms; the oxidized form (ubiquinone) and the reduced form (ubiquinol). Ubiquinol is the form naturally found in our bodies, so there’s no surprise that it’s the more absorbable form when it comes to supplements. However, the oxidized form is readily converted in the body to the reduced form, so there’s still a lot of debate as to which formula is the best to supplement with. Most studies have been done using the “tried and true” ubiquinone as ubiquinol was only available after 2006. At present, current studies point to ubiquinone being effective for most individuals looking to maintain good health, while ubiquinol may be more effective for those who are older and looking to use CoQ10 therapeutically to treat or reverse a disease.
After age 30, your body is less able to metabolize CoQ10 on its own. Each capsule of CanPrev’s Ubiquinol 100 contains 100mg of Active Form CoQ10 for cardiovascular support and migraine prevention. Each softgel is formed from a base of medium chain triglyceride oil for enhanced absorption
Usually dosage form isn’t overly critical when it comes to the delivery of vitamins and supplements, however in the case of CoQ10, various studies have shown that softgels provide greater absorption rates compared to solid forms (like tablets). CoQ10 is also naturally fat soluble which is why we have selected a soft gel capsule with an oil base to ensure maximal absorption.
How much do I really need?
There’s no official daily recommended intake value for CoQ10, and the supplemental dose depends on the condition you are targeting. Otherwise healthy individuals with a family history of heart disease or increased risk of cardiovascular disease could benefit from a dose of 100mg daily. Migraine sufferers have seen benefit at doses of 100mg three times a day and individuals on statin therapy should take 100mg daily.
Because Coenzyme Q10 is a fat soluble molecule, it’s recommended to take it with a fat containing meal. If taking this once a day only, it’s recommended to take at night for full effect.
