Why you'll love it
Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a naturally occurring antioxidant that is commonly found in various supplements. It is considered one of the most effective antioxidants and is widely used for various health benefits. Supplementing with alpha lipoic acid offers numerous health benefits, including boosting energy levels, improving brain function, reducing symptoms of diabetes, improving cardiovascular health, improving skin health, and reducing signs of aging.
In terms of energy levels, ALA has been shown to increase glucose uptake by cells and enhance the utilization of glucose as a source of energy, resulting in an increase in energy levels and improved physical performance. This makes it an ideal supplement for physically active individuals and those looking to boost their energy.
For brain function, ALA has been shown to increase the production of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter essential for brain function, as well as prevent oxidative stress and inflammation, known contributors to cognitive decline. This makes it an ideal supplement for individuals looking to improve brain function and prevent cognitive decline.
Individuals with diabetes can also benefit from ALA as it has been shown to improve glucose metabolism and reduce symptoms of diabetic neuropathy, a condition affecting nerves in those with diabetes. ALA also reduces oxidative stress and inflammation, known contributors to the development of diabetes.
ALA is also beneficial for individuals with heart disease, as it has been shown to improve cardiovascular health by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, known contributors to the development of heart disease. It also improves cholesterol levels, reduces blood pressure, and improves circulation.
For those with skin problems, ALA has been shown to improve skin health by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, known contributors to the development of skin problems. It also reduces signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles, and improves skin hydration and elasticity.
You can find it in some foods, like kidney, heart, liver, spinach, broccoli and yeast extract, where it is bound to the protein lysine. However, in this bound form, ALA isn’t as easy to utilize. The supplemental form of ALA is unbound or free lipoic acid, allowing for easier utilization
