FOR IMPROVED IMMUNE FUNCTION, SKIN AND MORE
Zinc is a mineral that is essential in both innate and adaptive immune function. Zinc is also important to maintain connective tissue formation, intestinal health, and healthy skin.
  • Beneficial mineral essential for proper immune function, skin health and red blood cell formation
  • Contains zinc citrate and succinate, highly absorbable forms of Zinc
  • Small dose of copper added to prevent potential deficiencies

Why you'll love it

Because so many body systems rely on it. As an essential mineral, zinc plays a number of roles in the human body and has an impact on many things including brain function, immune health, clear skin and hormonal balance.

Our skin is one of the most complicated organs. In order to maintain that clear, glowing look, it requires proper care and nourishment from the inside out. This starts with a well balanced, whole foods diet as well techniques to help manage stress and ensure you are getting enough sleep. But the truth is, sometimes life just happens and breakouts can be an inevitable part of everyone’s skin journey at one point or another. In fact,  acne is one of the most common skin care issues people seek medical attention for. Acne breakouts can be multifaceted and protocols should be individualized based on the root cause. While in some cases, stronger prescription antibiotics may be required, there are natural remedies that can be investigated first, and Zinc should definitely be one of them. Research has pointed to the fact individuals who tend to suffer from acne breakouts often have lower serum and skin levels of zinc, and clinically we see improvement in those who use Zinc as part of their treatment protocol in addition to adding in  zinc-rich foods such as pumpkin seeds, shellfish, eggs, beef and legumes.

While there are some good plant sources of zinc, individuals who tend to follow a primarily plant based diet, high in whole grains and beans and low in animal foods, may actually be at risk for zinc deficiency. That is because these types of diets that are high in phytates can actually inhibit zinc absorption, meaning that the requirement of dietary zinc may be up to 50% higher in these populations.

Colds suck. Period. Good news is that there are some pretty easy thing you can do to help minimize their frequency and duration! In addition to a well balanced diet and managing stress and sleep, taking a Zinc supplement can help. Zinc is essential in maintaining the immune system, and plays a role in both the adaptive (long term) and innate immune (short term) responses so individuals who tend to be zinc deficient may have a greater likelihood of catching whatever it is that is going around.

Why this formula?

There is a huge variety of Zinc supplements available on the market, and it’s not always easy to discern exactly what you are getting just by looking at the label.  Each form of zinc has a different bioavailability and provides varying amounts of elemental Zinc per capsule. Forms such as Zinc gluconate and sulfate tend to be more difficult to absorb, while the citrate and picolinate forms have better absorption. We have chosen a supplement that contains the citrate form to make sure you get the most benefit at the lowest dose.

Though the dose we recommend is well within the safe range, there is evidence that long-term supplementation of high doses of zinc can result in copper deficiency, which is why a small dose of copper is included in our supplement to prevent any potential deficiencies from occurring.
